What is

Yin Yoga?

Amy’s Approach

Amy’s approach to yin is trauma-informed and weaves nervous system science with the art of yoga — creating space to explore and be curious, or to simply just be. Participants are empowered to practice at their own pace and are offered options and a choice of props throughout.

Amy brings both her own lived experience of using yoga to support her nervous system, and her professional experience of holding space for clients — guiding you to increase body awareness and explore sensation with gentleness and care.

Yin yoga is a gentle practice that invites you to slow down, breathe and come home to yourself.

Unlike more active styles of yoga, yin works with long, supported holds — typically three to six minutes — that gently target the deeper connective tissues of the body: the fascia, ligaments and joints. It is a practice of stillness, of listening, and of learning to feel safe in your own body.

Yin Yoga & the Nervous System

Yin yoga has a profound effect on the autonomic nervous system. By holding gentle, supported postures for extended periods, we create the conditions for the body to shift out of the stress response — out of fight, flight, or freeze — and into a state of rest and repair. It is suitable for all levels and no prior yoga experience is needed.

Over time, this practice can help to:

• Support the nervous system to ebb and flow between states and reduce chronic stress

• Improve sleep and support emotional resilience

• Release held tension in the body’s deeper connective tissues

• Build a greater sense of safety and groundedness within the body

• Cultivate a compassionate, non-judgmental relationship with yourself
